From Liberia to La Fortuna Downtown (Directions & Map)
Direction from Liberia to La Fortuna:
From our rental car office, drive towards the “Interamerican Highway” (Route #1) and turn south direction Bagaces, pass the little town and keep on going towars Cañas. There, you will see on your left hand side an intersection with a BULL FIGHTING RING (Pictures below). That is your turn which will direct you to the city of Tilaran. At the intersection, where on the right hand side you will see a nice and new SHELL GAS STATION, turn left direction Lake Arenal, pass Nuevo Arenal town and keep driving around the lake until you reach the city of La Fortuna. Driving time: about 4 1/2 hours

From Liberia to Playa Samara (Directions & Map)
Direction from Liberia to Playa Samara:
From the rental car office direct yourself to the main road “Interamerican Highway” (Route #1) and turn south direction Cañas, pass the town and keep on fdriving until you see in the corner of a big intersection a HUGE SHELL STATION (Pictures below). At the intersection turn right towards Tempisque River bridge (Also called Puente La Amistad de Taiwan). Pass the new bridge and cross the town of Nicoya direction Playa Samara. Driving time: about 2 ½ hours max.

From Playa Samara to La Fortuna (Directions & Map)
Direction from Playa Samara to La Fortuna or back:
From Playa Samara, you will have to return to Nicoya, cross the town and follow the direction to Tempisque River bridge (Also called Puente La Amistad de Taiwan), pass tghe bride until you reach again the Interamerican Highway (Route #1), turn this time left (North) direction Cañas where at the BULLFIGHT RING (Picture above), you will turn right direction Tilaran and again at the NEW SHELL GAS STATION you will trun left direction Nuevo Arenal. Pass the town and drive around the lake until you reach the town of La Fortuna. Driving Time: about 4 ½ hours

From San José to La Fortuna (Directions & Map)
Direction from San José to La Fortuna:
From the rental car office, drive direction San Ramon where you will see at a big intersection a New Mall in the corner (Steakhouse, etc.). Turn right and go straight through the town. At the end of the road, make a left turn & a quick right turn towards Arenal volcano / Tabacon resort sign. You will pass San Lorezo Cloud forest, La Tigra, Chachagua before reaching La Fortuna. Driving time: 2 hours max.

From San José to Playa Samara (Directions & Map)
Direction from San José to Playa Samara:
From the rental acr office, please drive towards Puntarenas and way before coming to town, turn North direction Liberia Interamerican Highway (Route #1). 47 kilometers after your turn, you will see a sign indicating Tempisque River bridge (Also called Puente La Amistad de Taiwan) and a HUGE SHELL GAS STATION (Pictures above). Left turn and 29 kilometers after, you will cross the bridge and direct yourself to Nicoya. Cross the town direction Playa Samara. Driving time: about 5 1/2 hours

From San José to Manuel Antonio / Quepos (Directions & Map)
Direction San José to Manuel Antonio / Quepos:
From the rental car office, drive direction Atenas, pass the little town, keep on going torwards San Mateo, and after direction Orotina. Drive south until you reach Jaco beach, pass the town direction Parrita. You will cross numerous bridges which do not look good at all, but do not worry, 18 wheelers are crossing them every days for years, just go slow and you will be fine. Keep on driving until you cross the last bridge where the town of Quepos is located. Manuel Antonio is a cul de sac road after Quepos downtown, which dies to the National Park and the beautiful beach! Driving time: 4 hours

From La Fortuna (Arenal) to Monteverde (Directions & Map) From La Fortuna, direction the Lake, when you passed Tabacon and arrived at the Dam, just keep on going around the lake and follow the direction for Tilaran, and then follow the sign to Santa Elena (Monteverde) directions. The road from La Fortuna to Tilaran is very good but when you are starting to climb the dirt road to Monteverde, the road will be very bumpy, that is why we provide our clients with 4x4. Piece of cake. Driving time: 136 kilometers separate the two little towns and it will take you between 4 to 5 hours (based upon weather, stops and traffic).
